You treated your servant with grace,
as pledged in your word I received.
Teach knowledge and judgment to me,
because your commands I believed.
Before my affliction I strayed,
but now I will hold to your word.
You are good and you do what is good;
teach me your commandments, O LORD.
The insolent smear me with lies,
yet I keep your law with my heart.
Their hearts are unfeeling like fat;
I love what your precepts impart.
It was good that I suffered distress,
that I might be taught your commands.
For your law is more precious to me
than silver and gold in my hands.
